Perfumes have been around for centuries. In fact the word perfume has been derived from the Latin word ‘per fumus’. ‘Per fumus’; means obtained through smoke.

Depending on the strength of the perfume oil that has been used, perfumes can be categorized as perfume extract, esprit de parfum, eau de parfum, eau de cologne, eau de toilette and splash and after shave.

The greater the percentage of perfume oil, higher is the intensity of the perfume fragrance. Perfumes can be prepared at home with various essential oils. The following perfume recipes can be made very easily at home.

Star Burst Perfume Recipe:

To prepare this perfume, melt two tablespoons of beeswax beads, one tablespoon of coconut oil and one tablespoon of sweet almond oil in a glass bowl placed over a double boiler. Once the wax beads starts to melt and combines with the oils, remove the glass bowl from the heat source. Allow the oil and wax mixtures to blend well before adding five drops of lavender essential oil, ten drops of chamomile essential oil and ten drops of valerian essential oil. Allow the mixture to cool completely before transferring them to empty perfume bottles.

Flower Fresh Perfume Recipe:

In a heavy bottomed saucepan melt two tablespoons of beeswax with one tablespoon of extra virgin coconut oil and one tablespoon of sweet almond oil. Once the wax has melted completely remove the saucepan from the heat source and allow the ingredients to cool.

Next add one drop of ylang-ylang essential oil, one drop of tangerine essential oil, two drops of jasmine essential oil, two drops of lavender essential oil, two drops of vanilla extract and three drops of German chamomile oil. Once the oils and wax mixtures have blended well transfer them to empty roll on perfume containers.

Misty Forest Perfume Recipe:

Melt two tablespoons of beeswax beads with one tablespoon of coconut oil and one tablespoon of sweet almond oil. Once the oil and wax have melted and blended together, add three drops of sandalwood essential oil, two drops of vanilla essential oil, three drops of cedar wood essential oil and finally seven drops of bergamot essential oil. Once the various oil mixtures have blended well, transfer them to empty roll on perfume bottles.
