Many children want to grow up to be rock stars. Some even pretend they already are. Although there are ample outfits that allow parents to mix and match to get the look they want for their children, finding the right fit can be very frustrating.
According to Asmaa Fotouh, a stylist who works in a fashion and design centre affiliated to the Technology and Creation Council, children can be very moody and their tastes can change.
“This is why it’s hard for parents to satisfy them. It is therefore important to take care of every tiny little detail in a child’s character and anything related to his choice, in order to help build a distinctive character and satisfy his tastes and his curiosity,” she stresses.

Asmaa advises parents to be selective in choosing the material, recommending cotton, while avoiding synthetic materials that might cause skin allergies.
Children grow very quickly, so their parents shouldn’t spend vast sums of money on their clothes. “Parent should be also ensure that the buttons and other metal accessories on their children’s clothes can’t easily fall off and get swallowed,” she warns.
“They should also look for variety: clothes for hanging out in, clothes for school and kindergarten, clothes for meeting relatives and other formal occasions.
“They should also buy their children fancy clothes for celebrations, to give a special oomph to the festivity.
With themes like carnival, retro, and rock, children love to explore different sides of themselves by trying out things that are unusual for them.”As for the children’s fashion for winter 2010-2011, Asmaa says this year children fashion is comfortable and colourful, adding that jeans and woollen clothes are a must for children in winter, as they offer both warmth and comfort.

“Dark jeans are good enough to be paired with vests or coats. A velvety or any structured jacket makes a perfect, flamboyant upper wardrobe.
“Whatever you decide to choose, make sure the outfit looks natural on your child. Exaggeration is not important; making your child feel at ease with what he’s wearing is important,” stresses Asmaa.
