Someone’s very hungry for caterpillar.
A 22-year-old passenger caught carrying 207 pounds of dried caterpillars at London’s Gatwick Airport on Saturday told customs agents that the insects were meant for personal consumption, the Associated Press reported.
The passenger, who was traveling from Burkina Faso via Istanbul, had to give up the thousands of shrink-wrapped ‘pillars, the BBC reported.
“I would warn travellers not to attempt to bring any products of animal origin into the UK without a permit,” Border Force spokeswoman Ingrid Smith told the station.
This guy isn’t the only one with a taste for caterpillar. On Tuesday, French health inspectors discovered that a Paris restaurant was cooking up caterpillar stew.
